Pumpkin Village...

I guess they technically aren't pumpkins but hey, It was a fun project.

We used various bits of moss, dried flowers and twigs, earth clay and leaves.

We also made a few tiny pumpkins from some felted beads and thread.

What do you think? I hope your Halloween is a happy one!

Seascape...

I made these oysters last night. I thought the pearls would be a fun surprise for Lil to find.
Of course after they were made I couldn't resist setting up a playscape for her to find. Sometimes I do this so that she has some "play inspiration."

It definitely worked! She set to work straight away.

She found some spare gnome hats and used them on her gnomes for mermaid tails. I love watching her come up with ideas. She must have played there for at least an hour. Such fun! We've also started to simplify our toys a bit more. getting rid of things with only one purpose and saving the more basic ones. I have seen a difference in the way the children play with less.

For The Birds...

This morning, Lil' noticed the crows outside in search of breakfast. She asked  to feed them.

She spread the seed on the benches.

Taking care to make sure there was enough for "everyone."

She then announced to them that their breakfast was ready.

Turnip Lantern... Creative Friday....

We are starting to get into the "Hallowe'en mood" and I couldn't wait to make a turnip lantern. Out of all the beautiful transparencies and luminaries we've made, turnips are my favorite.

I made this one before dinner so that I could surprise the girls. They love to eat by candlelight.

We can't wait to make more again next week! What are you making?

WIP and Yarn Along...

Joining in the Yarn Along today! I'm knitting myself a long-tailed hat. Reading The Tale of Despereaux and enjoying a nice hot homemade latte.

Daddy's Little Helper....

Lily loves to help her Dad.

She had been asking to rake leaves all week. How could he say no to an extra set of hands?

She can scoop up a big armful of leaves! And put them into the wheelbarrow! This, she is most proud of.

Around to the leave pile they go.

And after all that hard work, a favorite snack between Dad and Lily both. Rainbow carrots!  The purple ones are always the first to be eaten.

Our Honey Leaves... And Gratitude Sunday!!!

We figured it was about time to gather up leaves and dip them in beeswax before they all fell and turned brown. Joining the beautiful Taryn at woolymossroots.blogspot.com for Gratitude Sunday. I alway enjoy this. It revives the spirit every time one thinks about what they are grateful for! Don't believe me? Try it!

I am grateful for the changing seasons. Being able to enjoy a hot cup of coffee. I am grateful for my husband because without him, I would be so lost.

I am grateful for the chance to be an Aunt to another beautiful child and this time a boy!!! Our first. A little over a month to go.

I am grateful to have snuggle buddies. I am grateful to be able to enjoy the company of my children.

I am grateful to have been able to know my mama and grateful that she is finally at peace. I am grateful that my father survived a horrible accident and although he lost a leg, he now can get around. I am thankful for this day. And thankful to be able to share it in this post. I am also thankful that your reading my blog. :) Have a glorious Sunday!

Another Year Round The Sun...

My Birthday was Friday. I woke up (later than usual!) To a nice cup of coffee and cards!

I got to go yarn shopping!

Lil and I picked out the same color of yarn.

We played in the garden.

My birthday was Friday. It was the nicest birthday I have had in such a long time. I got to play outside with all the children I love and adore, I got to go yarn shopping and, I got to go out for Greek food! If you haven't tried any Greek food, you are surely missing out! I got to be surrounded by all the people I love and I felt so special!

Our Autumn Wreath....

The children and I made this wreath this morning from things we have gathered and dried the past few weeks.

I think I may add a beard to this gnome. What do you think?

Needle felted flower. I am getting a bit better.

We used one of our leaf crowns we made last week. I am so glad  to see the colors are still there.

What do you think?

Magic Wish Bottle Tutorial.....

You will need: various seeds, tiny stones, beads, shells, herbs flowers , feathers or anything else "magical" that you have on hand.

Bottles to put your magic in.

Eye hooks or beading wire to attach a string for wearing your magic bottle.

Pretty string and scissors.

It's simple. Just fill the bottle with the magical ingredients, close your eyes, make a wish to wish into the bottle and then put it on! Have fun and let me know what great ideas you come up with!!!
